“I need to get Ben Stokes in the team anyhow” this is how Steven Smith showed his eagerness to get Stokes in the team. He said franchise owner to buy Ben Stokes anyhow. And that was exactly done by the franchise owner in the auction of IPL 2017. Many team owners were trying to get Ben Stokes but But finally Rising Pune Supergiants (RPS) bought Ben Stokes by spending 2.16 million US dollar. To buy this English all-rounder player, RPS owners almost broke the IPL auction record.
Yesterday Ben Stokes proved it once again that why he was the perfect candidate to be bought. Rising Pune Supergiants yesterday played against Gujrat Lions. Gujrat gave a little score of 160 runs but while chasing those run RPS players got a lot of problems. They lost four wickets too early when only 42 runs were on the scoreboard. Just on that moment, Ben Stokes showed his commitment. From the very beginning of his innings, he started showing his magic and made his first century in the Indian Premier League by playing only 63 balls. In his innings, he hit seven boundaries and six over boundaries. RPS won the match by five wickets. And for the third time, he got the Man Of The Match prize. Every time he showed his power with the bat, ball, and fielding.
By the end of the match the captain of RPS, Steven Smith said: “Ben Stokes is the perfect player for our team and today he proved it once again that why he deserved 2.16 million dollars”. Because of Mitchel Marsh’s injury, team management was thinking the best replacement. Ben Stokes made that gap fulfill very well.
