Chasing 273 to win, Rohit Sharma went on six-hitting spree, smached 131 runs in just 84 balls making it the fastest century by Indian player in world cup breaking the record of earlier Kapil Dev’s 175 runs in 138 balls against Zimbabwe in 1983. Along with the captain’s innings, Ishan Kishan’s 47 (47), Virat Kohli’s 55 (56), and Shreyas Iyer’s 25 (23), India was able to reach their goal in just 35 overs.

Rohit HITMAN Sharma managed to break many records in this match. He scored the quickest century in the history of the World Cup for India, and he surpassed Chris Gayle of the West Indies to become the player with the most sixes in ODIs with 555.He also surpassed Sachin Tendulkar’s previous record of six hundreds in the World Cup by becoming the first Indian player to score seven. In World Cup contests, he also scored 1000 runs.
